Panthers of the Week: Episode 3

This week we ran the 2 mile course at Spring Lake at the Viking Opener. Over 40 teams sent their best runners to enjoy the amazing scenery and weather.

Girl Panther of the Week: Marina Lecoeuche! Marina accomplished something very rare in cross country racing: an individual victory! Think about it... most races at the invitational level have over 100 racers in them. Winning is rare, and it is hard! Marina took the lead in the Girls Open Division and never looked back. A performance of complete domination! Good job Marina!

Boy Panther of the Week: Ben Lara! The newcomer had a breakthrough performance at Viking in the boys Open division. He ran aggressively through the first mile and then kept picking off those in front of him. More impressively, he ran nearly 2 minutes FASTER than he did at Ed Sias (another 2 mile course). Ed Sias is a tougher course, but usually people run about 30-45 seconds faster at Viking. Looks like Ben has made that important transition from "runner" to "racer." Way to go Ben!
